Franklin slams, Wolverines romp

Friday Harbor senior Cole Franklin whacked a grand slam as Friday Harbor blanked Lynden Christian 12-0 Tuesday, May 1. Michael Sandifer ripped a two-run double for the Wolverines, who finished the regular season 18-2. The Wolverines clinched their third consecutive Northwest 1A/2B League title last month with a 14-1 record.

The Wolverines next play in the Class 1A District Tournament at noon Saturday, May 5 at Blaine's Pipeline Athletic Complex. They will face Lynden Christian. If they win, The Wolverines face the winner of the Meridian-Nooksack Valley game at 3 p.m. If the Wolverines lose they meet the loser of the Meridian-Nooksack Valley at 3 p.m.

The top three District 1 teams advance to the state-qualifying Tri-District Tournament. The higher seeds will host opening round games.
