Lynden Christian beats Friday Harbor boys

Friday Harbor Wolverines started off hot with three of their first four baskets 3-pointers. They led Lynden Christian High School boys basketball team 19-14 at the end of the first period. They went into the locker room at the end of the half up 29-24.

The Wolverines were shooting 50 percent from the floor both 2 and 3-point attempts in the first half. They were 75 percent at the free throw line. Lynden Christian was 38.5 percent for 2-point shots, and 18.2 percent on 3-point attempts. They were 100 percent on the free throw line.

The momentum changed in the second half. Friday Harbor was shooting 37 percent from the floor on 2- point shots and 11 percent on 3-pointers. The team was perfect on free throws. Lynden Christian improved over the first half. They shot 60 percent from the floor aand 94 percent on free throws.

The Lyncs outscored the Wolverines 22-14 in the third period and 15-10 in the final period. The final score was 61-53.

Coach Ron Turnbull said, "The kids played with a lot of heart, a lot of stick-to-it-tiveness. There are a couple of things we don't do well and they hurt us at an inopportune time. But the team never gave up."

Tommy Fouler was high scorer with 23 points. Brock McNairy had 9, Ryan Aylward 8, Austin Scheffer 6, Richie Ochoa 5, Andrew Scheffer 2.
