Friday Harbor freshman hurled a no-hitter as Friday Harbor blanked Evergreen Lutheran 14-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, March 31. The Wolverines blasted the Eagles 12-2 in the second contest. Both games went five innings. "I want to keep it going," Goff said of her hitless streak. "I need to keep throwing strikes. It's really fun to be pitching as a freshman." Goff throws with confidence, thanks to the Wolverine defense. "I know the girls behind me will always back me up. Everyone does their part," she said. Friday Harbor's young squad is off to a 4-0 start. "I'm really proud of them," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton. "Our young kids are really contributing. We hit the ball hard." Goff, who has given up one hit in her first nine innings, fanned 10 Eagles. She also rapped a base hit. Beth Ware doubled and beat out an inside-the-park home run for the Wolverines in the first game. Jenny Guard sparked the Wolverine offense with two singles and a triple. Mollie Taylor scampered for an inside-the-park home run. Lola Elford doubled and Ali Wade singled. Beth Ware poked two triples in the second game and earned the win for Friday Harbor. Kiersten Radden singled and doubled. Freshman Hannah Waite singled in her first at-bat as a high school player and added another base hit. Freshman Courtney Clark also singled in her first appearance at the plate. Jenny Gustafson, Catlyn Keys, Ali Wade, Snow and Goff connected for base hits in the non-league contest. "Courtney Clark and Hannah Waite, in their first time up in a varsity game, singled," Carlton said.
