Wolverine sluggers sweep Braves in doubleheaderA short-handed Friday Harbor baseball squad swept La Conner 3-1 and 9-4 in a Northwest 1A/2B League doubleheader Wednesday, April 9. The Wolverines are missing seven of their players during the spring break. Friday Harbor baseball team trims Concrete twiceJustin James ripped the game-winning two-run triple in an extra frame as Friday Harbor edged Concrete 4-2 Saturday, April 5. Roy Taylor smacked a pair of singles and provided some key defense at shortstop as the Wolverines nipped the Lions 6-4 in the second game of the Northwest 1A/2B League doubleheader. Richie Ochoa fanned 14 Concrete batters while earning the win in the first game. Albert Strasser hit two singles and drove in the Wolverines' other two runs. Michael Knowles knocked out three base hits. "Our guys turned a beautiful double play in the seventh inning with two on base," said Friday Harbor coach Rich Warin of the performance by shortstop Taylor, secondbaseman Michael Sandifer and first baseman Ochoa. Taylor pitched the first five innings before moving to short when Jordan Nash took the mound in the sixth. "Roy had three nice plays at short," Warin said. |
