Wolverine boys roll against young Vikings

All of Friday Harbor's players scored in as the Wolverine boys basketball team romped by inexperienced Orcas Island 68-18 in a road contest Tuesday, Dec. 11.

"We're going to grow up quick," Orcas coach Joe Duenn said for the Vikings, who return only one senior from last year's squad.

"We're hanging in there. It (the loss) wasn't because we weren't trying hard," Duenn said.

Friday Harbor's Tommy Fowler led all scorers with 18 points. Jordan Nash chipped in 12 and Erik Nash contributed 11. The Wolverines other scorers were: Albert Strasser 8, Austin Scheffer 4, Pablo Lopez 4, Parker Lawson 3, Michael Sandifer 2, Michael Short 2, Eddie Nash 2 and Jacob Gustafson 2.

The Viking scorers were: Kyle Hoffman 4, Thaddeus Gincig 3, Henri Bredouw 2, Tyler Shaw 2, Daniel Janssen 2, Alan Coe 2, Taylor Diepenbrock 1.


South Whidbey survives Friday Harbor boys in OT

South Whidbey slipped by Friday Harbor 46-41 in overtime of a non-league contest Dec. 8.


Friday Harbor boys victorious over Aussie traveling team

Friday Harbor boys basketball team opened the season Dec. 4 with a 39-25 victory over Southern Spirit, a traveling team from New South Wales, Australia.
