Barnes, GrosJacques and Porter earn state track and field berths
Three Friday Harbor High School girls earned a trip to the Class 1A State Meet at Mount Tahoma High School next week. Freshman Kelsey Barnes finished fourth in the shot put, junior Whitney Porter placed fourth in the high jump and fifth in the 100 hurdles and Christine Grosjacques was fifth in the high jump at the Class 1A Tri-District Championships at King's High School. Porter jumped a four feet, 10 inches in the high jump and ran the hurdles in 16.87 seconds. Barnes, a freshman, heaved the shot 33 feet, five inches. GrosJacques qualified for sate by leaping a personal-best four feet, nine inches. Sophomore Kayla Short finished 10th in the long jump with a 14-1 mark, placed 12th in the 100 in :13.97 and was 12th in the javelin with a 98-11 throw. |
