posted 11/05/01
The fifth-ranked Orcas football team remained unbeaten and retained the Island Cup trophy by beating Friday Harbor 49-16 Saturday, Nov. 3.

Orcas, the playoff-bound Northwest A League Champion, used its potent passing game to go up 32-0. Jacob Ross returned a kickoff 85 yards for the Wolverines' first touchdown. Ross also snagged a Brett Percich pass for the two-point conversion.

The Vikings scored 17 more points, including a 42-yard field goal by Randy Harrington that bounced off the crossbar, before Percich hit Adam Posenjak for 50-yard touchdown. Ross made the two-point conversion.

Orcas finished 5-0 in league and 9-0 overall. The Vikings will meet Rainier (5-4) or White Pass (7-2) at a site and time to be announced.

Friday Harbor went 1-4 in league and 1-8 overall.
