Wolverine baseball squad blasts Braves

Friday Harbor's baseball team gained sole possession of the Northwest A League's top spot by battering previously unbeaten La Conner 13-1 in five innings Tuesday, April 2.

Brett Bartmasser cracked a three-run triple off the fence and swiped home on a wild pitch during the Wolverines' six-run fourth inning. Bartmasser drove in another run off a single in the Wolverines' five-run first inning.

Danny Cumming singled and drove in two runs on a double. Rus Reyes went 2-for-3, driving in 2 runs. Elliot Thomsen also drove in two runs, hitting a single, a bunt and a sacrifice fly. Andrew Westphalen drove in a run and reached base safely four times, singling twice and walking twice.

Jacob Ross earned the win for the Wolverines, allowing 1 unearned run in the first inning.

Friday Harbor improves to 4-0 in league and 6-0 overall. La Conner drops to 4-1 and 5-1.
