Ryan hurls, rips game-winner

posted 04/10/02
Brady Ryan drove in the winning run and gave up only a hit in three innings relief during Friday Harbor's 4-3 extra-inning victory over Concrete, Tuesday, April 9.

Concrete's Kyle Wilson cracked a homer in the first inning but Friday Harbor went up 3-1 in the third. Adam Posenjak doubled and scored on a single by Jacob Ross. Fletcher Vynne and Elliot Thomsen each drove in a run on sacrifices.

Kevin McAdam homered in the fifth inning and Concrete trailed 3-2. The Lions gained more momentum in the bottom of the inning after Friday Harbor starting pitcher and standout hitter Jacob Ross was ejected. The home plate umpire ruled Ross violated base-running rules by attempting to leap over the Lions' catcher.

Concrete tied the game in the seventh and sent it into an extra inning.

Fletcher Vynne reached base on balls with one out in the eighth and Elliot Thomsen singled. Danny Cumming, facing a 3-2 count, gained first on a walk to load the bases. Timmy Aylward lined out before Ryan rapped the ball into the left-center gap.

Friday Harbor, 6-1 in Northwest A League play, is tied for first with La Conner. The Wolverines are 8-1 overall.
