Orcas girls win league title

Orcas claimed the top three spots of the Girls Northwest A League Tournament and Friday Harbor's best finished fourth.

Dannielle Johanneck won medalist honors with a 112. Lauren Taylor was second with a 118 and Courtney Breslauer third with a 122. Jacqueline Taylor had a 127 and Jessica Doyle a 138.

Anna Gordon's fourth-place finish was the highest individual finish by a Friday Harbor girls golfer at a conference championship. She shot a 126. Ashley Wright had a 132, Courtney Jones a 149, Anna Radecki a 164 and Rebecca Funke a 179.

Friday Harbor girls golf notches first official team win

Ashley Wright, Anna Gordon, Anna Radecki, Gabriel Wysgol and Rebecca Funke turned in a performance for the recordbooks Tuesday, April 23: The Wolverine girls golfers posted the first ever official team win in the Friday Harbor High School's history by defeating Mount Baker.

"That was exciting for them," said Friday Harbor coach Dave Anderson.

Wright earned medalist honors for the Wolverines.

Girls have been representing Friday Harbor on the links for several years but not until this season have the Wolverines fielded five eligible players in a match.

Orcas girls golf squad beat Friday Harbor 376-395 in a nine-hole match at Avalon Golf Course Friday, April 5.

Danielle Johanneck secured medalist honors by shooting a 56 for the Vikings. Lauren Taylor and Jacqueline Taylor each shot 67. Kelly Baker finished with an 84 and Harmony a 102.

Ashley Wright paced the Wolverines with a 69. Anna Gordon shot a 75, Courtney Jones an 80, Gabriele Wysgol 85 and Anna Radecki 86.

Mounties defeat Wolverine girls golf team

Mount Baker girls golf team defeated the Friday Harbor girls 361-403 in nine holes at San Juan Golf and Country Club Saturday, March 23.

The Mounties' Leslie Hanson took medalist honors with a 70.

Friday Harbor's scores were: Anna Gordon 73; Courtney Jones 79; Anna Radecki 81; Rebecca Funke 81; and Mariah McMurtie 89.
