Friday Harbor smokes Snohomish County Christian
for first fastpitch wins

posted 03/25/02
Sissy Carlton struck out 6 batters in five innings as the Friday Harbor softball team burned Snohomish County Christian 12-3 in the first fastpitch contest in the school's history Saturday, March 23.

"It was a great first-time experience," said Kevin Carlton, the Wolverines new head coach.

Genoa London-Platt fanned 7 Lions in three innings of a 26-2 romp in the second game of the non-league doubleheader. "She blew them down," Coach Carlton said.

The Wolverine hurlers only watched 6 batters in the two games. "We pitched extremely well," Carlton said.

Erica Percich went 3-for-3, whacking two triples and a double in the first game. Sissy Carlton hit 3-for-4.

Cassie Brophy, a courtesy runner, notched the first steal in the Wolverines' fastpitch recordbooks and Jessica Peacock tapped the first sacrifice bunt. On defense, the catcher Melissa Peacock alerted the Wolverine infielders of a double steal and tagged out a Lion runner at home.

"We hit the ball hard and played good defense," Carlton said.
