Coupeville clips Friday Harbor in fastball
Undefeated Coupeville held off Friday Harbor 3-2 in a Northwest A League contest Friday, April 5.
"It was a great contest," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton.
The host Wolves went up 3-0 after three innings but the Wolverines rallied for a run in the sixth and seventh. Friday Harbor was poised to tie the game when a pitched bounced off the backstop. Momentum carried the ball close to the Wolves catcher who made the tag on a Wolverine runner stealing home.
Friday Harbor fell to 4-1 in conference and 6-2 for the season. Coupeville improved to 5-0 in league and 7-0 overall.
Friday Harbor fastpitchers burn La Conner

Sissy Cartlton allowed only two hits as the Friday Harbor softball team shut out La Conner 10-0 in a Northwest A League contest, Tuesday, April 2.
"We played unbelievable defense," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton. "They (La Conner) hit the ball pretty hard."
Right-fielder Kelsea Peterman made "fantastic catch that saved the shutout," Carlton said. He also commended the glove work of shortstop Leah Evans, center-fielder Erica Percich and catcher Melissa Peacock.
The Wolverines improve to 3-1 in league action and 5-2 overall.
University Prep trims Friday Harbor

University Prep edged Friday Harbor 2-0 in a non-league fastpitch softball dual Saturday, March 30.
"Both of us gave up two hits," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton. "University Prep's happened to come with runners at the right spots."
Sissy Carlton gave up two runs on a hit in the first inning for the Wolverines and Genoa London-Platt allowed one hit in two innings.
Erica Percich and Maggie Foley hit Friday Harbor's singles.

Genoa London-Platt hurled the first no-hitter in Friday Harbor fastpicth softball history as the Wolverines romped by Orcas 13-0 Friday, March 29. The junior came one out shy of a perfect gift to herself.
"What a neat birthday present, to go out and do so well.... I was really proud of her," Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton said of London-Platt's nearly perfect outing.

Friday Harbor's softball team blanked Orcas 17-0 yesterday, March 28 and the Wolverine baseball squad held off the host Vikings 4-3. The island rivals are scheduled to meet again at 3 p.m. Friday, March 29 in Friday Harbor.
