Friday Harbor boys win 10-way meet

Nathan Smith won the long and high jumps at La Conner, Tuesday, March 26, and the Wolverine boys won their second meet of the year. The Wolverines' Chad Cymbalista in the 100-meter dash, Lucas Franco in the 3200 run and their 400 relay team also finished first.

Friday Harbor tallied 108 points. The other team scores were: Mount Vernon Christian 99, Snohomish County Christian 92, Archbishop Murphy 88, Lopez 34, La Conner 33, Coupeville 16, Concrete 11, Grace Academy 4 and Shoreline Christian 0.

Smith cleared 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump and 19-10 in the long jump. Smith also finished second in the 200-meter dash in 25 seconds.

Franco won the 3200 in 11:07.5, more than 50 seconds before the runner-up. He placed third in the 1600. Cymbalista won the 100 in 11.8 seconds and the 400 relay squad finished in 46.9.

Travis Heim leaped 17-8 for second-place finish in the long jump and was fifth in the triple jump. Drew Allen tossed the discus 106-9 for a second-place and the Wolverines' 1600 relay squad came in second in 3:53.5.

John Marsh, in the high jump, and Adrian Kilpatrick, in the javelin, finished third.

Jesse Kjolso was fourth in the intermediate hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles. Ian Paterson finished fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump. Tyler Roberts placed sixth in the 400 and long jump.

Wolverine boys track team win season opener

Friday Harbor boys track squad posted five first-place finishes en route to a team victory March 14 in the first meet of the year. The Wolverines tallied 90 points, Snohomish County Christian 70, Mount Vernon Christian 50 and host Coupeville 33.

The Wolverines' first-place finishers and their marks were: Travis Heim, long jump 17 feet, 8 inches; 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Jesse Kjolso, 48 seconds, 69 seconds; Drew Allen, discus, 93-7; John Marsh, high jump, 5-7; and 400 relay, :47.53.

Friday Harbor's second-place finishers were: Lucas Franco, 1600 and 3200 runs; Ian Paterson, long jump; Nathan Smith, high jump; Johannes Paul, 800 run; and 1600 relay.

Finishing third were: Travis Coulter, shot put; Andrew Teasdale, 400; and Mark Oliver, discus.
