Wolverine girls place 3rd in 10-team meet

Friday Harbor girls track team finished third in a 10-way meet at La Conner, Tuesday, March 26.

Mount Vernon Christian won the meet with 154 points and Concrete was second with 73. Friday Harbor placed third with 69.

Friday Harbor's Shay Hopkins won the 3200-meter run in 12 minutes, 51.1 seconds. Jenni Mason finished second in the long jump with a 12-foot, 4.5-inch leap and the Wolverines' relay team was second in the 400 relay with a 57.2-second effort.

The Wolverines' third-place finishers were: Ashia Neuroth, 3200 and 1600 runs; Karen Morrill, long jump; Catherine Grosjacques, high jump; and the 1600 relay.

Grosjacques also was fourth in the 400 dash and fifth in the 100 sprint. Erika Lee finished fourth in the 300 low hurdles and sixth in the 100 high hurdles.

Jessica Hall placed fifth in the 3200 and 1600. Maya Kruger was fifth in the 800 and Morrill fifth in the javelin.

Brittney Ducote was sixth in the 400 and Pamela finished sixth in th long jump.

Friday Harbor girls place 2nd in meet

Ashia Neuroth out-distanced the competition in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs as Friday Harbor girls track team finished second in their season opener March 14 at Coupeville.

Mount Vernon Christian won the meet with 89 points and Friday Harbor scored 78. Snohomish County Christian had 38 and Coupeville 24.

Neuroth completed the 3200 in 15 minutes, 46 seconds and the 1600 in 7 minutes, 12 seconds. Teammate Catherine Grojacques won the high jump with a 4 foot, 5 inch leap and finished second in the 100 and 200 dashes. Jenni Mason jumped 12-7.5 for a victory in the long jump and was third in the 400.

Bridget Hudson placed second in the 3200 and 1600 and third in the triple jump. Erika Lee finished runner-up in the 300 hurdles.

Third-place finishers for the Wolverines were: Jessica Hall, 1600 and 3200; Shay Hopkins, 800; and Karen Merill, javelin.
