Mason leaps, motors to victories at league championship

Freshman Jenni Mason won the long jump and ran a leg of Friday Harbor's first-place 400-meter relay team at the Northwest A League Finals May 2 in Coupeville.

The Wolverines scored 63 points and placed third in the meet. Archbishop Murphy won the meet with 125 points and La Conner was second with 67. Concrete had 54 and Coupeville 27.

Friday Harbor competes in the District 1 Meet at noon, Saturday, May 11. The top five finishers in each District event advance to the Tri-District Meet at King's High School in Shoreline on Thursday, May 16 and Saturday, May 18. The six best finishers in each event at Tri-District qualify for the Class A State Meet at Eastern Washington University in Cheney May 24-25.

Wolverine girls finish a solid second in last home meet

Catherine Grosjacques won the 200-meter dash, anchored Friday Harbor's winning 400 relay team and finished second in the long jump during the Wolverines' final home meet of the season Friday, April 26.

Friday Harbor placed second in team points, scoring 132. Archbishop Murphy was first with 225. Other team scores were: Grace Academy 46, Coupeville 30, Skykomish 6 and Lopez 1.
