The 2013 Resurrection Derby this past weekend saw harsh conditions, as a nor' easter blew down upon the San Juan Islands.
Frigid temps, and heavy seas made it a challenge, but a good number of fish were weighed in. In the end, Dale Nelsen's team took the $10,000 first prize with a 16.92 lb Chinook.

95 fish hooked on first day of derby
A true old fashioned Nor' Easter brought strong winds and low temps to the first day of the 2013 Resurrection Derby Friday, December 6. Anglers battled freezing spray and icy decks to weigh in an amazing 95 Chinook on Friday.
The derby continues Saturday with the same conditions.
Dale Nelsen sits atop the leader board with an almost 17 lb Blackmouth.
Will someone bring in a bigger fish to take the $10,000 top prize? Weigh in ends at 4:30 pm Saturday, at Friday Harbor Seafoods at the Port of Friday Harbor.
We shall see who's shivering hand is raised in victory!
