Born in Astoria, Oregon January 21, 1923. Passed away peacefully May 3, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones.
He graduated from Astoria in 1941 and from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 1950.
After serving four years in the navy he married Virginia who survives in their home in Seaside, Oregon. Also survived by sons Jeffrey in Kuna, Idaho and Michael (wife Maryellen) in Friday Harbor, Washington, four grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and two brothers, Dr. Robert Foster of Bellingham and John Foster of Anacortes, Washington.
He was an avid outdoors man and fisherman. Growing up in Astoria Oregon he beach seined with horses and summited Mt Rainer, Mount St Helens, Mt Hood and Three Sisters Peaks in Oregon.
He and Virginia bought property on San Juan Island in 1969 and retired in 1981 to Friday Harbor where they lived for 15 years. He was a member of the volunteer fire department at Roche Harbor and served as a Captain of the Roche Harbor station for a number of years.
He was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity at OSU, Elks club and the Friday Harbor American Legion.
