Museums

San Juan Historical Museum

Located on Price Street in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island.

The museum complex is on the more than 100-year-old James King homestead. The original farmhouse, the first county jail, a turn-of-the-century log cabin, barn, milk house, and carriage house are part of the museum.

Whale Museum

Located on First Street in Friday Harbor.

The museum includes real whale skeletons, a family tree of the resident killer whales (orcas), artwork, exhibits and artifacts. Listen to whale "songs." in the Whale phone booth and watch a 30-minute video on Pacific Northwest orcas.

Orcas Island Historical Museum

Located in Eastsound on Orcas Island.

The museum is made up of six one-room log cabins built in the late 1800s on Orcas Island. The cabins were moved to the site next to Eastsound Village Green.

Crow Valley School Museum

Located southwest of Eastsound on Crow Valley Road on Orcas Island.

The one-room schoolhouse dates back to 1888. Call 360.376.2273 for more information.

Lopez Island Historical Museum

Located in Lopez Village on Lopez Island. The museum's maritime exhibit includes a captain's gig, a fish trap, steamboat models and reef net boats. Horse drawn farm machinery are also on display. For more information call 360.468.2049.
