Dozen cases of COVID in San Juan County this month, count doesn't include home tests

According to the Washington Department of Health, as of March 14, 2023 there have been 12 cases of COVID-19 reported in San Juan County in March. Individuals who receive a positive antigen test from a self-administered, over-the-counter antigen test (home test) are considered “Suspected” cases and not included in the case count per CDC reporting guidelines.

The COVID-19 statistics for San Juan County February 28 - March 6 are 98 for 14-day case rate for cases per 100,000 population. The 14-day case count was 17. The 7-day case rate was 51.9 for cases per 100,000 population. The 7-day case count was 9. 

According to the state health department, the cumulative number of cases for San Juan County is 2009, the number of hospitalizations was 83, and there were 3 deaths. 

The statewide statistics were 1,936,946 cases; 82,527 hospitalizations, 15,815 deaths. 

Confirmed cases include individuals who received a positive molecular test result for COVID-19. Probable cases are individuals who received a positive antigen test result for COVID-19 from a provider, but no positive molecular test result. Individuals who receive a positive antigen test from a self-administered, over-the-counter antigen test (home test) are considered “Suspected” cases and not included in the case count per CDC reporting guidelines.

It is calculated by dividing the number of cases with a specimen collection date during a 14-day period by the state population (county population is used in county view) and multiplying by 100,000.
