August 14: The Secret Life of Trees at English Camp on San Juan Island (every Sunday)

Can trees talk? Do trees have feelings? Can they experience pain, joy, or grief? We have been taught to view plants as inanimate, and without characteristics we normally equate with the animal kingdom. But science now understands that plants do communicate, respond to harm, and help one another.

This 40 to 60-minute talk: The Secret Life of Trees is presented at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays at English Camp under the giant maple, or inside the barracks depending on weather.  This talk looks at trees in a brand-new way, and in the process offers us the opportunity for us to respond to them in brand new ways.
