San Juan County Sheriff's Log Jan. 27-Feb 2

A jogger noticed a strong smell of diesel fuel, and upon investigation discovered a significant spill on Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez Island. A tank on private property had leaked, and oil carried by storm water spread to the ditch along the roadway. Personnel from the Lopez Fire Dept, county Public Works and IOSA responded to the spill.

The disposition codes are: ACT- active; CIC - citation issued; CLO - closed; FAL - false; INA - inactive; NR - no report; UNF - unfounded.

January 27, a Lopez Island deputy discovered a pickup parked perpendicular to Mud Bay Rd in the dark, blocking the southbound lane. Three men were unloading a large item from the pickup, and moved the vehicle when they were finished.

On the morning of 01-28-2016, a deputy stopped a vehicle within the Town of Friday Harbor for failing to wear safety belt. The Vehicle also had expired vehicle registration since 12/2015. Subsequent investigation showed that the driver had a suspended driver's license in the third degree for unpaid tickets. Issued

On January 30, 2016, Lopez deputies served an arrest warrant on a 31 year old Lopez man. During the arrest, a deputy noted an illegally possessed weapon. A search warrant was obtained and several other weapons were recovered.

January 31, Lopez Island deputies responded to a reported suicide attempt. Upon securing the scene, EMS took over patient care and the subject was airlifted to a mainland hospital.

On 01/31/16 at approximately 1341 hours, a San Juan County Deputy stopped a vehicle in Eastsound that was being driven by a male driver who was known to have a suspended driver's license. The driver was cited and released with a promise to appear in court for driving while license suspended.
