San Juan Islands Sheriff's Log Feb. 1-7, 2023: Ferry worker bumped by car, fraud, suicide, threats

San Juan County Deputies responded to 167 calls from February 1-7, 2023 including: Deputies responded to a reported assault with a vehicle involving a vehicle and a Washington State Ferry crew member on board the Yakima at  Orcas ferry terminal. A deputy was contacted about a Fraud in the Friday Harbor area. The person had received a check from someone on the internet which was placed into their account. The person then sent part of the money back to sender. The money in the account was then removed. A contractor on Lopez reported the theft of electrical equipment from a job site. Lopez Deputy responded to a drugs call. An administrator at the school confiscated a plastic tube containing marijuana from a student.

A deputy responded to a reported burglary in progress on Orcas Island. Further investigation revealed that it was likely the caller was experiencing a mental health crisis, and no evidence suggested any persons were actively trying to break into her home.
