San Juan Islands Sheriff's Log Feb. 15-21, 2023: Vehicle theft, shoplifting, woman lying in the road, drunk driver arrested in his driveway, trespassing

San Juan County Deputies responded to 186 calls from February 15-21, 2023 including: A San Juan Island deputy responded to a report of a possible drunk driver. The driver was located in their vehicle in their driveway. The driver was argumentative stating they made it home safe and did not hurt anyone. The driver admitted to being intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. An Orcas Island deputy responded to a report of a woman in the middle of the road. She refused to provide her identity. She was detained and later identified as having two warrants. She was arrested and booked into jail. A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of a vehicle theft. A suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and the vehicle was recovered. A Lopez Island resident reported a male with a dark complexion driving a light blue Chevy truck was seen possibly casing properties in the area of Vista and Cousins Road. The male was described as having an aggressive demeanor. On San Juan Island a female was observed shoplifting from Market Place Foods. She was later located and arrested for Trespassing, Burglary 2nd, and Theft 3rd. This is part of several calls on this day. She was booked into the jail on several charges. A San Juan Island deputy was dispatched to a Theft. The person had caught the theft of a bike on camera. The person taking the bike was already in custody on other charges.

A San Juan deputy took a referral from APS regarding possible elder abuse. A 62-year-old person had been the victim of a scam. The deputy called them and learned that they were clearly not a vulnerable adult, they had recovered all funds, and there was no suspect information.

A San Juan deputy responded to Roche Harbor Resort for a report of found drugs. The deputy retrieved the item, which did appear to be methamphetamine, and placed into evidence.
