July 27 and 28, 2017: Informal Meet and Greet about new American Camp Visitor Center

San Juan Island National Historical Park's American Camp Visitor Center is being replaced. Construction funding will be available in 2019, to replace the 40-year-old "temporary" visitor center. Staff has completed a conceptual alternatives development process.

One of four alternatives. View larger sizes on the American Camp website.

From 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, June 27 and Wednesday, June 28, 2017 you are invited to meet with the Park Superintendent to walk the grounds and discuss some of the preliminary design ideas that have emerged. Three alternative site planning options will be presented. Staff welcomes feedback.

If you are unable to attend, please be sure to check out the conceptual site plan narratives (PDF) and the conceptual site plan alternatives (PDF).

While the park staff is not formally soliciting public comments, they'd like to hear your thoughts on the preliminary ideas.

This fall, the park will release an environmental assessment detailing the proposed action and evaluation of its impacts for public review and comment.
