Help save Bumblebee, a very tiny lamb

Bumblebee, may be the smallest living sheep in the world. He weighed just 1.5 pounds at birth. His low birth weight was just the beginning of a string of bad luck for Bumblebee.

As a baby his mom accidentally stepped on him and broke one of his legs. Now Bumblebee is in the hospital again after a farm visitor accidentally hit the little sheep with their car.

Bumblebee is one of the lambs on Rami Amaro's San Juan Island farm. She has set up a GoFundMe account hoping to raise the $3,500 the surgery is estimated to cost.

As of January 9, 2023 Bumblebee was at the animal hospital. After he was completely shaved, significant bruising was visible on his abdomen. He is on IV fluids, an IV antibiotic, and pain medications.

When Rami visited him, he was laying down but with his head up, and he seemed to be relieved to be getting care. He was happy to see a face he knew. Sheep can recognize up to 200 different human faces according to Rami.

Tuesday, January 10, he will have additional x-rays and ultrasound before surgery.

His GoFundMe has raised $1,670 as of January 9.
