More than 2 tons of litter picked up in the Great Islands Clean-up in the San Juan Islands
In the 2023 Great Islands Clean-up 301 people collected more than two tons total of litter on Shaw, Orcas, San Juan, Stuart, Decatur, Sucia, and Lopez Islands. The 4,574 pounds included everything from the smallest bits of micro-plastic to huge chunks of Styrofoam – helping to make the islands plastic and litter free by the sea.
The San Juan County Dept. of Environmental Stewardship thanks everyone who participated and to all the organizations who helped coordinate this year’s event.
