Orcas Island boys soccer team advances to 3rd consecutive state championship match

Orcas Island boys soccer team topped Providence Classical Christian 3-1 in a Class 1B/2B State Tournament semifinal Friday, Nov. 17, 2023 in Federal Way. With the win over the eighth-seed Highlanders, the Vikings advance to their third consecutive state championship match.

The fifth-seeded Vikings (12-5-0) will face third-seeded Upper Columbia Academy (12-2-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at Federal Way Memorial Stadium. The Lions beat seventh-seed Riverside Christian 4-0 in the other semifinal. Providence (12-5-0) and Riverside (9-6-0) will play the consolation match at 1 p.m.

Orcas trimmed Providence 2-1 in the 2021 title match and fell by the same margin to Friday Harbor in last year's championship.
