Friday Harbor High School boys soccer team beat Orcas Island 2-1 in the Class 1B/2B state championship game in Renton November 18.
Friday Harbor slayed St. George’s 2-1 after winning a shootout in the Class 1B/2B Boys Soccer State Semifinal Friday, Nov. 18. The Wolverines (14-2) will next battle cross-water rival and defending champion Orcas Island (16-2) in the title match at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at Renton Memorial Stadium.
“It feels pretty dang good. It feels really, really good,” Friday Harbor coach Brett Paul said of the victory over Spokane soccer powerhouse. “Not only being in the state championship, but that second half was the best brand of soccer we’ve played all season.”

Island soccer fans are two wins from an ultimate showdown – Friday Harbor and Orcas Island high schools battling in the Class 1B/2B State Final in Renton this weekend.
“It certainly will be something if we play them again in a couple of weeks,” Friday Harbor coach Brett Paul said after the Wolverines trimmed the Vikings in an eight-shot shootout for the District Bi-District crown on November 5, 2022.
All three of Friday Harbor Tiger football teams played in the semi-finals November 5, 2022. The Seniors and Peewee teams lost their games - the seniors by only two points. The Freshman team (referred to as midgets on the chart above) beat Granite Falls 31-7.
Friday Harbor soccer boys soccer team, with a bi-district championship shootout win over Orcas Island, earned the top seed to the Class 1B/2B State Tournament. The Vikings are slotted as the No. 3 seed.
Saturday, October 29, was a great day for Friday Harbor Tiger football teams. All three teams won. The Peewee game went into over time. When they scored and won every coach, parent, and older kid ran on to the field in a giant triumphant celebration with plenty of hugging and crying. It was a pretty special day.
Crosspoint ousted Friday Harbor from postseason play 6-0 in the Girls Class 1B/2B District 1/2 Tournament Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Sehmel Homestead Park in Gig Harbor. The Wolverines finish the season 8-6-1.
Orcas Island edged Auburn Adventist 1-0 in a Class 1B/2B District 1/2 semifinal Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Sedro-Woolley High School. The Vikings advance to the bi-district championship Nov. 5. They will face Friday Harbor who beat Evergreen Lutheran.
Friday Harbor overpowered Evergreen Lutheran 8-0 in a Boys Class 1B/2B District 1/2 soccer semifinal Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Payallup Valley Sports Complex.
Friday Harbor and Orcas Island’s high school soccer teams start post-season play Tuesday, Nov. 1.

All three Friday Harbor Tiger football teams won their games this past weekend and advance to the first round of playoffs. They will play at home at Linde Community Fields in Friday Harbor on Saturday, October 29. Game times are 11 am, 1 and 3 pm.
Concessions will be open. Come support the teams and grab a hotdog.

Friday Harbor Tigers won two of the three games they played October 8, 2022. The Juniors beat Anacortes 13-0, the Freshman won against Burlington 25-0. Mount Vernon beat the Peewees 16-0.
The cheerleaders wore pink armbands this month in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
