Meridian beat Friday Harbor High School softball team 13-7 Saturday afternoon (May 12, 2012) at the 2012 1A District Softball Tournament at Janicki Fields.
Lynden Christian won 14-8 over Friday Harbor in the first game putting the Wolverines into a loser out situation for their second game where they faced the winner of the Nooksack Valley/Meridian game.
Nooksack Valley took the championship with a 16-6 win over Lynden Christian.
Friday Harbor High School baseball team beat Lynden Christian 8 - 3 to advance to the second round in the 2012 1A Tri-District Baseball Tournament Saturday, May 12 at Sehome High School and Joe Martin Field. Orting ended the Wolverines season by beating them 1-0.
Chimacum won the tournament with a 1-0 win over Charles Wright Academy. Meridian took third place with their 7-1 win over Cedar Park Christian.
Friday Harbor ends the season 7-1 in the conference and 14-7 overall.
Friday Harbor High School spring teams are quickly approaching the District 1 playoff portion of their seasons. The District 1 Tournament is used to determine the seeding of the 1A teams located in District 1.
$1.6 million dollars of donated dollars have gone into the infrastructure for the San Juan Island Community Fields. Now it's time to raise the funds to get the park open and the first phase of the community sports fields finished - the multi-use athletic field. The goal is to have it open to the public by September 1, 2012.
The Fields of Dreams Fundraiser takes place from 4 p.m. to ... April 21 at the San Juan County Fairgrounds. A BBQ dinner, beer garden, dancing and live music - the Good Husbands, Shotgun Messengers, Laura Lee Chorba, and the One More Time Band - will make this a fun-filled family oriented event.

Wolverine junior Collin Williamson was named to the first team; junior Donald Galt to the second team. The Honorable Mention List includes Friday Harbor sophomores Otis Cooper-West and CJ Woods.

Registration for the third annual Spring Sprint Triathlon at San Juan Island Fitness is open. Race day is Saturday, April 14 with first wave start at 10:00 a.m.
Triathlons are a multi-sport event including swimming, biking and running, in that order. This triathlon includes a 500 yard swim, 13 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. In the triathlon world, this is considered a sprint distance.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline beat Lopez Island 72-15 Thursday, March 1 at the Class 1B State Tournament in Spokane. The Lobos move to the consolation bracket and play Neah Bay in a loser-out contest at 12:15 p.m. Friday, March 2.
Lopez Island High School girls basketball team advanced to the elite eight of the Class 1B State Tournament after a 59-42 victory over Taholah Saturday, Feb. 25 at Timberline High School in Olympia.
The Lobos next play at the Hardwood Classic March 1-3 in the Spokane Arena. Lopez opens quarterfinal play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1 against Almirante Coulee Hartline.
Willy Dunn captures regional title, to make fourth trip to Mat Classic Friday Harbor's Willy Dunn earned his fourth consecutive trip to the state wrestling tournament - the Mat Classic – by pinning his two foes at the 1A Regional Championships at Bellevue Christian High School Saturday, Feb. 11.
"Willy has come through all year long," said Friday Harbor coach Neil MacDiarmid. "It's good to see him finishing strong."
"I'm looking forward to it a lot," Dunn said of competing in next week’s tourney at the Tacoma Dome. "It's my last year, so I might as well savor it."
Life Christian edged Friday Harbor 55-49 Saturday, Feb. 11 by stemming a Wolverine second-half rally. The Eagles improve to 14-7 and advance to the Tri-District Tournament’s second round. The Wolverines finish the season 16-6.
Friday Harbor led most of the first quarter as Collin Williamson scored nine of his team-high 16 points. "We miss him, he’s a good player," said Life Christian coach Mark Lovelady.
Williamson’s old team chipped away and took a 12-11 lead into the second period.
